In Search of Heroes and Heroines in Business

On a trip to L.A. recently, I was interviewed for a program called “In Search of Heroes” by Ralph Zuranski.  He introduced me to the concept of heros and heroines in business.  To be honest, I never really thought about this too much.  Sure I have people I model from and that I trust to mentor me but I’ve never really seen them in terms of heros and heroines.

I think the people that work and interact with me in my business, on a daily basis are heroes and heroines.  Firstly for embracing my concepts and beliefs in business and helping me to achieve the goals and high benchmarks that I set and secondly for being willing to understand and accept someone like me that strives to achieve new levels of success – constantly!

That’s not an easy thing to do really and I’ve had plenty of people want to join in but many have fallen by the way sides because they cant ‘keep up’ – and I dont mean that as a sign of weakness at all, but that they do not strive for the same lifestyle as me.

Although we have set-backs and frustrations, given the nature of our business that involves working with technology, I do make sure I acknowledge, praise and reward results that are moving towards our goals.  Sometimes it’s a simple and sincere thank you, other times it’s some personal praise in front of others and sometimes it’s a physical reward, like a cash bonus or time off with pay.

I think as a business owner, this is really an important thing to remember to do – it’s an investment in you too!  If you haven’t done it recently, make a short list of maybe 2 or 3 things to thank those around for doing to help you .

Helping make other people feel like heroes makes you a hero in their eyes.

You can find out more about the interview I did as well as other business owners by visiting the “In Search of Heros” blog.

Cheers and have yourself a SUPER Hero or Heroine kind of day!

Jen
