Earl Nightingale and Jennie Armato discuss Currency of Ideas for New Economy Entrepreneurs
In the Era of Entrepreneurs, in The New Economy, Your Ideas Have a Currency
In the new economy, there are numerous ‘currencies’ – none more powerful or valuable than the currency of ‘ideas’ – ideas for new concepts, approaches, strategies etc – new ideas through innovation.
Inspired by my recent presentation at TEDxByronBay “Ideas Worth Spreading” event, where I revealed the idea of how entrepreneurs can lead not only their business, or community but an entire, global marketplace, I want to introduce to one of the original Leaders of Inspiring IDEAS for the betterment of mankind – Earl Nightingale.
Earl Nightingale (1921 – 1989) is dubbed the ‘Dean of Personal Development’. Earl was a Public Speaker, Radio Host and Author of “The Strangest Secret” (which economist Terry Savage has called “one of the great motivational books of all time“). In 1956 Earl produced a spoken-word recording of “The Strangest Secret”, which sold over a million copies, making it the first-ever spoken-word recording to achieve Gold Record status. Shortly afterwards, he co-founded the Nightingale-Conant corporation with Lloyd Conant.
In this 3 part series, Earl explains what the Strangest Secret is … starting with sharing the idea of using a tape recorder to leverage time to learn (can you believe how far we really HAVE come in only 60ish years – that’s not even a lifetime).
PART 1 – Summary of “The Strangest Secret”
“Are the People I’m Following Going Where I Want To Be Going?”
PART 2 - Summary of “The Strangest Secret”
“Our Greatest Gift We Can Be Given”
PART 3 - Summary of “The Strangest Secret”
“We need Individual Goals, Individual Thinking, Individual Actions”
From this recording, he launched his show “Direct Line” where he stimulated discussion, thoughts and ideas about stimulating discussion, thoughts and ideas.
PART 1 - “Direct Line” radio show
“People are at their best when they’re striving towards the fulfillment of good and worthy ideas”
PART 2 - “Direct Line” radio show
“Our Circumstances reflects our true beliefs”
PART 3 - “Direct Line” radio show
“The Two Types of Income … “
Would love to know what you think … share your thoughts and share this post, I would really appreciate it. Cheers, Jen

First of all, Jennie, I want to say, what a magnificent presentation you made at TEDxByronBay. I’ve heard you speak before, several times, and each time, the depth of your research is amazing, and your skills as a presenter, exceptrional. As last speaker of the day, you had a big responsibility, and you came through with flying colours. The 100 plus audience were enthralled.
Secondly, I’ve just watched Video 1 – dateless, appropriate material that ought to be compulsory pastoral care teaching at all school levels.
I’m glad to see so many videos, as I’ll use each as a daily start-of-the-day inspiration to action.
Great work you do, Jennie. Many thanks.
Gloria
I’ve just had my daily dose of Earl. Love the man.
– 95% of humankind lives by a lack of decision; they have never learnt how to live
– we need a checklist to make sure we don’t just waste our life forn the next 40 years
– only we have the power to change our environment
– we must have goals, the right attitude and think
– retirement age takes us by surprise – boy, can I vouch for that – I often don’t recognise the face that looks back at me in the mirror
– and finally, TV leads to, red eyes and hollow head, and then, the car analogy – clever
Inspiration plus for the rest of the day
Muchas gracias, Jennie
I loved the story of the farmer on his tractor.
Equally, when he said: “Unless we build on truth, it’s like building a house on sand – it won’t stand.
The next point that blew me away was:”Achieveing goals is not what’s important, it’s establishing them.” So simple, but profound.
Merci beaucoup
Gloria
Yes, Jen, this is truly fantastic, revolutionairy and What? “still not outdated information”. Jen, I have read the books and listen to the (all) the tapes and like yourself the Napoleon Hill book “Think and grow rich ” I got to read sometime back in the 1980th and I was gubsmacked that no one had bothered to put it into my hands before then. I was so excited that I bought extra copies and handed them out to everyone who cared to read it and so like yours my quest started and has been going ever since. I came across another great author in “Stuart Wilde” who, I would say, literarely saved my bacon, because I could not understand how this world was saying one thing and doing another. People in Business was saying when you asked them “how’s Business, they would all say “Great” but you knew that not to be true. Everyone was doing seemingly what they wanted and most had achieved the (American,Australian, Your country dream and was living it) But , no one was happy. If you had a great house, chances were you coulden’t afford it and so on. It all had me pusseled and confused, but Stuarts stright level of thinking explained a few thing. I walked barefooted through 8 meters of gloving redhot embers at Claremont showgrounds with Stuart without burning my feet or even feeling the heat through my soles and it made me realise, that all was not what it seemed and my pursuit for this “strangest Secret” was a lifegoal for me. It is however only now almost 20 years later that I get reminded by You, Jen, that Earl Nightingales message is still such an inspirational source of wisdom now as it was when it was recorded and a million people or more listen in. I sincerely hope that this message find itself into every breath of every human being old or young who aspire to become , better, happier or more prosperous in life. Well done , Jen , Love you and Paul and the team, keep up the good work and thank you for continuing being the beacon for us all to follow. Best regards Nick Struan 2010
